When it is not being used, you will be conserving battery.

How to Turn Off an Android Phone

Android phones are numerous and of all kinds Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Vivo, Oppo, realme, etc. The steps are more or less the same to most of them although some may be somewhat different. Relax or I will elaborate on the typical procedures as well as the brand-based ones.

Method 1 ;

 The Classic Way (Power Button)
Hold on to the Power button about which there is usually one on the side.

Then, in 2-3 seconds a menu will open on screen.

You will be presented with a choice of options such as Power Off, Restart or Emergency Mode.

Tap on Power Off.

Check whether it inquires: Tap again to turn off.

Technique 2:Newer models: Volume Power

Hold and press Power button and Power button , Volume Down simultaneously or Power button and Volume Up simultaneously.

Wait until the power menu gets visible.

Choose Power Off.

In a case example, in my friend phone, OnePlus 11, he needed to press both buttons to view the shutdown screen.

The third way is to choose the Settings Menu.
Open Settings.

Slide to see the About Phone or System.

Press Tap Power Off or Shut Down.

How to Turn Off an iPhone;

iPhones are somewhat different. The approach depends on the model slightly. We shall discuss the most common iPhones models now

iPhone 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, X FB NO HOME BUTTON
Hold the Side Button and volume Up (or Down) simultaneously.

Some screen will appear and it will include a slider which will read, slide to power off.

Left the slide to the right.

In several seconds your phone will be turned off.

Iphone 6, 7, 8 (Home Button)
Simply hold the Side/Power button.

In several seconds, the slider will be available.

Slide down to shut down.

iPhone
Just the same steps as before- just press the side button until slider appears.

Switching iPhone Off with the Settings
Click on Settings.

Tap General.

Slide down the bottom, and tap Shut Down.

Slide down to shut down.
This comes in handy when you have broken buttons or buttons that do not work.

What If Your Phone Is Not Responding?;

At times, phones go on hang or freeze. A force shutdown is required in that case.

For Android:


For iPhone:
Hold both Side button and Volume button until the screen switches black.

Have no fear it shall not break your phone. It is similar to keeping the power key on a computer to hard close it.

Bonus Tip: Restart vs. Shut Down;

You would be thinking: “I should switch it off or simply restart it?”

Restart = Automatically turns off and turns on.

Shut down = Remains off until you switch it on.

Restart your phone if it is sluggish or an application is faulty. However, when you are not going to use your phone in the near future, then simply switch it off in order to save power..
